Australian premium Allrounder Marcus Stoinis announced his shocking retirement from the ODI format. He was the pivotal to success of the Australian team in ODI World cup 2023. His retirement decision came just before the departure of Australian white ball squad for Srilanka tour.

While talking to media the all-rounder said "Playing cricket for my country in ODI is a dream that came true. I am grateful to Cricket Australia for providing me the opportunity to represent my country in ODIs. It was a long journey and there are many great moments and achievements that I will remember throughout my life. It was a tough decision for me but I think now is the perfect time for me to hang my boots off from ODI's as I want to focus on other chapters in my life. However, I will be fully available for T20s. We have a good bunch of young players and I will support them in Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025".

Career and Stats
The 35-year-old made his debut in 2015 vs England he has represented Australia in 71 ODI's, He scored 1495 runs at an average of 26.69 and strike rate of 93.96 with a career-best 146 not out against New Zealand in Auckland 2017. He also bagged 48 wickets at an average of 43.12.

Marcus Stoinis played his last ODI against Pakistan in November 2024. He was part of the Australian team which has won the ODI world cup 2023. He was also declared ODI cricketer of the year in 2018 by ICC.
